Quicken (v.) c. 1300, quikenen, "come to life, receive life," also transitive, "give life to, to give or restore vigour or activity to; to stir up, rouse, or stimulate; to quicken the imagination; to enter into a phase of active growth and development.
Quickening (n): the point at which a pregnant woman can first feel the movements of the growing embryo or fetus.
